What do we need to thrive as Queeribbeans in the UK?

The Domino Effect Research Project explores what LGBTQ+ Caribbean people in the UK need to thrive, including how we build community, chosen family and connections across generations. Led by QDP, it brings lived experience and cultural knowledge into the questions we ask and the ways we share what we learn.

We introduced the project at our Windrush gathering at QUEERCIRCLE on 21 June 2026. It builds on relationships developed through QDP’s community programme.

The questions we are asking

Research shaped with community

The project brings lived experience and creative practice into the research process. Planned approaches include surveys, conversations, photography and collective reflection, with community members helping to shape the work.

What we want it to make possible

We want credible, community-led knowledge that helps us plan useful activity and make the case for culturally informed care and resources.

Project status: In progress. Findings and published reports will be added to the library when available.

Help shape the research

Apply to join our paid research steering group. Members help shape the questions, approaches and recommendations so the research reflects what our communities need.

We welcome LGBTQ+ Caribbean people across generations, and allies with meaningful connections to these communities. You do not need academic research experience.
