ABOUT US
QUEER.
CARIBBEAN.
TOGETHER.
Making space for LGBTQ+ Caribbean people and allies to connect across generations.
BRING YOUR
WHOLE SELF.
The Queer(ibbean) Domino Project is an intergenerational community intervention for LGBTQ+ Caribbean people and allies.
We use dominoes, heritage, creative practice and peer-led research to build relationships across generations. Queer Caribbean experiences are at the centre, with space for relatives, chosen family and allies to take part. Our work asks how we can carry culture forward while including those who are too often excluded from it.
QDP began through Bare Radicals, with early collaboration and mentoring from Brixton Immortals Domino Club. It is now a Community Interest Company led by Kelsea Delatango and Jade Harewood, shaped with our community and Team Captains.
You do not need to know how to play, or use the word “queer” for yourself, to be welcome. We make room for different ages, experiences and ways of connecting with Caribbean culture.

THE PEOPLE WHO HELPED US START
KNOWLEDGE
PASSED ON.
Brixton Immortals brought their knowledge of the game, encouragement and commitment to Caribbean culture. Their support helped us make space for LGBTQ+ Caribbean people and allies to learn and play across generations.
With Black Thrive Lambeth, our early gatherings grew to include community conversations, creative installations and family-style portrait sessions. The Easter proposal at Brixton Immortals set out an ambition for a regular quarterly series, with different ways to participate.
Those experiences helped us see the need for a fuller programme, with room for relationships and ideas to develop over time.

OUR HISTORY
ONE GATHERING
LEADS TO ANOTHER.
A few moments in our story so far.
- BEFORE THE FIRST EVENT
Tree frogs in Antigua
Outside in Antigua, listening to tree frogs, Kelsea Delatango and artist Jordan Browne began talking about the things we call part of our culture. How do we preserve them and pass them on? And how do we include the people most often pushed to the margins? That conversation helped set QDP in motion.

Our first table in Brixton
With £500 and a space in the heart of Brixton, supported by Market Row and The Brixton Project, we held our first gathering at The Night Gallery in Brixton Village. Brixton Immortals joined us for dominoes alongside an exhibition of local queer artists and music from DJ Cindy Afflick. Their encouragement and knowledge helped make the idea possible.
- 4 NOV 2023
Black, Queer & Thriving
Black Thrive Lambeth supported our next gathering at Sunshine Arts Café in Loughborough Junction. Green Table’s recording installation collected community stories, and ceramist Alesha Pryce shared her practice. With support from Ray Mahabir and Sunshine International Arts, we committed to building a quarterly programme.
- APR 2024
Growing with Black Thrive
A further gathering with Black Thrive built on our early collaboration. Games, creative activity and community conversations offered ways to connect with Caribbean culture across generations. Our partnership helped us reach people and develop the regular programme we wanted to build.
- 2024
UK Black Pride Community Action Fund
QDP received support through UK Black Pride’s Community Action Fund, backed by NYX Professional Makeup. Kelsea and Jade were featured among the 2024 recipients in the Proudly Pro-You campaign, recognising our work to connect queer Caribbean people across generations.
- 26 OCT 2024
Drinks, dominoes & Fat.lip
At the METRO charity pub in Lambeth, we gathered for dominoes, community conversations and music from Fat.lip. The evening was supported by UK Black Pride, with drinks proceeds supporting METRO.
- 9 NOV 2024
Fireside Lime & making our own dominoes
At Paper Garden in Canada Water, Fireside Lime brought together games, making and stories around the fire. The Make Your Own Domino Set workshop, with Joel from Yes Make, invited people to carve and decorate wooden sets to take home or contribute to the project.
- 30 MAR 2025
Mother’s Day at Little Nan’s
Drinks, Dominoes & Ya Nans Spritz brought us to Little Nan’s Bar in Deptford on Mother’s Day. Alongside the games, a DIY aromatherapy workshop explored scent, memory and heritage, with space for chosen family and people spending the day away from relatives.
- 22 JUN 2025
Dominoes in the foyer
We brought QDP to Brixton House for Windrush Day, with domino tables facilitated by Bare Radicals and Dope Black Queers. Taking part in a wider Windrush programme made space for queer Caribbean community within a shared public celebration.
- 2 AUG 2025
Gully Queens with HARDFOOD
We joined Hard Food DJ collective for the launch of Gully Queens at The Glitch in Waterloo. This was our first event support and knowledge-sharing collaboration with London’s Queeribbean nightlife community, bringing games and community knowledge into a new setting.
- 21 JUN 2026
Windrush at QUEERCIRCLE
Our first Windrush Day takeover of a queer venue brought us to QUEERCIRCLE. We gathered around games, memory and conversation, and launched the Domino Effect Research Project. The Windrush booklets and postcards brought together words by Kelsea Delatango and artwork by Shane Sutherland.

Making room for a full programme
QDP became a Community Interest Company as our model changed. We wanted to build the capacity for a full programme, rather than trying to fit everyone and everything into one commissioned workshop. The CIC gives us a structure to develop that work, share responsibility and seek longer-term support.
